For the first time since the 1970’s, NASA is sending a crew back to the moon.
The crew includes Christina Koch, an engineer and record-holding astronaut who will become the first woman to venture to the moon. NASA’s Reid Wiseman, a navy test pilot and single father who will serve as commander of the mission. Victor Glover, a naval test pilot who will become the first African-American man to travel to deep space. Canadian Space Agency’s Jeremy Hansen, a fighter pilot who will be the first non-NASA astronaut to join a lunar mission.
The 10-day, roughly 600,000 journey will take this crew beyond the far side of the moon and deeper into space than any human has ventured before.

:Issued: 2026 Feb 03 1230 UTC
# Prepared by the U.S. Dept. of Commerce, NOAA, Space Weather Prediction Center
#
A. NOAA Geomagnetic Activity Observation and Forecast
The greatest observed 3 hr Kp over the past 24 hours was 2 (below NOAA
Scale levels).
The greatest expected 3 hr Kp for Feb 03-Feb 05 2026 is 5.00 (NOAA Scale
G1).
NOAA Kp index breakdown Feb 03-Feb 05 2026
Feb 03 Feb 04 Feb 05
00-03UT 2.00 1.67 2.00
03-06UT 1.67 1.67 2.00
06-09UT 1.00 1.33 1.67
09-12UT 1.00 1.33 1.33
12-15UT 0.67 1.33 1.33
15-18UT 1.33 1.33 3.00
18-21UT 1.67 1.33 4.33
21-00UT 1.67 1.67 5.00 (G1)
Rationale: G1 (Minor) geomagnetic storm levels are likely on 05 Feb due
to possible glancing influences from the CME associated with the 01/2357
UTC X8.1 flare from Region 4366.
B. NOAA Solar Radiation Activity Observation and Forecast
Solar radiation, as observed by NOAA GOES-18 over the past 24 hours, was
below S-scale storm level thresholds.
Solar Radiation Storm Forecast for Feb 03-Feb 05 2026
Feb 03 Feb 04 Feb 05
S1 or greater 50% 50% 50%
Rationale: There is a chance for the greater than 10 MeV proton flux to
exceed the S1 (Minor) levels on 03-05 Feb due to the recent X8.1 flare
event from Region 4366 and possible future eruptions.
C. NOAA Radio Blackout Activity and Forecast
Radio blackouts reaching the R2 levels were observed over the past 24
hours. The largest was at Feb 03 2026 0701 UTC.
Radio Blackout Forecast for Feb 03-Feb 05 2026
Feb 03 Feb 04 Feb 05
R1-R2 80% 80% 80%
R3 or greater 40% 40% 40%
Rationale: Moderate to high solar activity due to M-class flaring
(R1-R2, Minor-Moderate) is expected for the next three days with a high
chance for occasional X-class flares (R3-Strong or greater) due to
expected further activity from AR 4366.

_June 9, 1995__ Clementine was a joint project between the Strategic Defense Initiative Organization and NASA. The objective of the mission was to test sensors and spacecraft components under extended exposure to the space environment and to make scientific observations of the Moon and the near-Earth asteroid 1620 Geographos. Clementine was launched on 25 January 1994 at 16:34 UTC (12:34 PM EDT) from Vandenberg AFB , California aboard a Titan II G rocket. After two Earth flybys, lunar insertion was achieved on February 21.

NASA's Reid Wiseman, a navy test pilot and single father who will serve as commander of the mission. Victor Glover, a naval test pilot who will become the first African-American man to travel to deep space. Canadian Space Agency's Jeremy Hansen, a fighter pilot who will be the first non-NASA astronaut to join a lunar mission. Generally, if the input start time has more digits of precision specified than the selected output format, start time will be truncated to the appropriate level. To change the default timescale, append a "UT", "TT", or "TDB" to the START time for a table type that supports that timescale. The three timescales are described as follows: TDB ("Barycentric Dynamical Time"); used for cartesian and osculating element tables. The uniform time scale of the ephemerides. TT ("Terrestrial Time"), called TDT prior to 1991, used for observer quantity tables. This is proper time as measured by an Earth-bound observer and is directly related to atomic time, TAI. TT differs from TDB by, at most 0.002 seconds. UT is Universal Time, This is a non-uniform time-scale based on the rotation of the Earth. Pre-1962 corrections give UT1, post-1962 are UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). Corrections after the next July or January 1st arent known yet so the most recent determination is treated as a constant for future dates.
